Information about the Risks of Piercing
LCHV, October 2022
Getting a piercing involves risks. Make sure you are well-rested and have eaten beforehand. Inform the piercer about any medication use, skin problems, allergies, epilepsy, or hypersensitivity reactions. Also, check on www.veiligtatoeerenenpiercen.nl that the studio where you want to get a piercing has a license. This license indicates that the studio works according to the hygiene guidelines of the National Centre for Hygiene and Safety.
Do not get a piercing:
-
On areas where you have had plastic surgery or radiation treatment in the past year;
-
On a spot that was pierced less than three months ago;
-
On irritated skin, such as bumps, dark moles, or swellings;
-
If you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
-
If you are pregnant.
It is also not recommended to get a piercing if you suffer from one of the following conditions:
-
Diabetes;
-
Hemophilia;
-
Chronic skin disease;
-
Allergy to piercing (materials);
-
Immune disorders;
-
Cardiovascular disorders.
Do you have one of these conditions or are you taking blood thinners or antibiotics? And do you still want a piercing? Then consult a doctor first about the possibilities.
